Taiwan visa for Bangladeshi passport holders
The answer below is for a tourist trip with nothing else declared. If you already hold another country's visa, live abroad, or are travelling on business or in transit, use the checker to get your own answer. We cover tourist, transit and business travel only.
Embassy visa needed
A full application at the mission, with documents and often an appointment.
Without a qualifying used visa, the application goes to the Taipei mission.
What to prepare
A filled dot is required, a hollow one is asked for sometimes. This list is for your situation, so it is shorter than a generic checklist.
Identity
National ID or birth certificate
A copy of your NID. For an applicant under 18, the birth certificate instead.
Original passport
Your machine-readable passport, valid at least six months beyond your travel dates, with at least two blank pages.
Passport bio-page copy
A clear colour copy or scan of the photo page.
Passport-size photographs
Recent photographs on a plain white background. Confirm the exact size the mission asks for; it is not the same everywhere.
Travel and application
Accommodation booking
Bookings covering every night of the trip, or the host address if you are staying privately.
Completed application form
Filled in, signed and dated. Online forms have to be submitted and the confirmation printed.
Cover letter
One page: who you are, why you are travelling, your dates, and who is paying for the trip.
Flight reservation
A confirmed booking, not a paid ticket. Do not buy the ticket before the visa is issued.
Invitation letterif asked
From the company, host or relative you are visiting, with their contact details and their status in the country.
Travel medical insuranceif asked
Cover for the whole trip. Schengen missions require at least EUR 30,000 of medical cover.

A certificate from your bank stating your closing balance, issued within the last month.
Bank statement, last six months
Original and bank-stamped, covering six months. Missions look for a steady balance, not a lump sum deposited last week.

Your latest income tax return acknowledgement receipt.
What you do
Every tourist visa asks how you support yourself and why you are expected back.
Client contracts or work orders
Signed agreements or invoices showing work that is ongoing.

What changes the answer for Taiwan
If you hold a used United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea or Schengen visa, and an expired one still counts, you can apply online for an eVisa.
Taiwan issues an online Travel Authorization Certificate to a Bangladeshi passport holder who has held and used a visa or resident card from the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea or a Schengen state. An expired one still qualifies, so keep the old passport.
Otherwise, you need to apply at the mission.
Without a qualifying used visa, the application goes to the Taipei mission.
