Before you ask to join a trip
Joining a stranger's trip is the biggest ask on this site, so here is what to check first.
- Look for the verified tick. It means a live selfie matched their main photo.
- Read the trip, then the profile. Trips taken together and meetups where both people checked in sit on every profile.
- Agree the money before you agree to go. The split is on the card, but confirm what it covers: beds, transport, food, entries.
- Keep it on Find Travel Partner until you are sure. No trip payment ever happens here, and anyone asking you to send money off the platform should be reported.
Questions about open trips
What is an open trip?
A trip a member has posted and is looking for a partner on. It names where they are going, the dates, how many partners they want and how costs are split. Asking to join is free, and the host decides who comes.
Does it cost anything to ask to join?
No. Asking to join any trip is free, and so is posting one. Trip money never goes through Find Travel Partner, which is why you arrange payments for beds and transport directly between yourselves.
What does the cost split mean?
It is what the host proposes: split the costs, or the host covers their partner. It is an agreement between travelers, not a payment we process, so confirm exactly what it covers before you commit.
Can the host say no?
Yes, and that is the point. The host sees your profile and your dates and decides. A no is not a judgement, usually it is dates or group size, so ask another host rather than asking twice.
How do I post my own trip?
Make a free profile, then add where you are going, your dates, how many partners you want and the cost split. It takes about a minute, you can keep up to 5 trips open at once, and you can edit or cancel at any time.
What happens after someone joins?
You plan it together in the chat, meet somewhere public first, and book everything yourselves. Find Travel Partner is where you find each other and agree the shape of the trip; the bookings stay in your own hands.
