The verified tick, explained
Every member confirms their email when they sign up. The selfie check on top of that is optional, free and takes about a minute, and it puts a blue verified tick on your profile. No ID card, no documents.

Your main profile photo is what the selfie is compared with, so it needs to show your face in good light.
Take a live selfie
Open Settings and choose Verify. We check that the selfie is live and that it matches your main photo. No ID needed.
Get your verified tick
When both pass, the tick appears on your profile. Change your main photo later and the tick stays when the new photo is clearly still you; otherwise we ask for a new selfie.

Only what the check needs, and only the result is kept.
- No ID needed. The check compares a live selfie with your main profile photo. Nothing else is asked for.
- Taken on a secure page. The selfie is captured over an encrypted connection and used for this one check.
- Only the result. We keep the pass or fail, never the selfie.
- Not sold. We do not sell your personal data, and the result goes nowhere except the tick on your profile.
Common questions
Do I have to get verified?
No, verification is optional and free. You can browse, post trips, join trips and chat without it. Hosting a meetup or a quick plan needs only a profile photo. The tick shows on your plans as a trust badge, and some hosts limit their plans to verified members, so it opens more doors.
What happens to my selfie?
It is used for one comparison against your main profile photo, and then we keep only the result. The selfie never appears on your profile and is never shown to other members.
What does the tick tell me about someone?
That their face matched their main profile photo when they verified. It is one signal, not a verdict on the person. Read their profile, talk to them first, and meet somewhere public the first time.
How long does the selfie check take?
About a minute, usually less. Good light and a steady camera make it quicker. If it fails, you can try again straight away, up to 3 times a day.
What do I need?
A phone or computer with a camera, a main profile photo that clearly shows your face, and somewhere with decent light. No documents of any kind.
Is everyone I meet verified?
No. Because it is optional, plenty of members never take it. You can choose to see verified travelers only, and you can set your messages so that only verified members reach you.
Can I lose the tick?
Rarely. If you change your main profile photo, the tick stays when the new photo is clearly still you. When it is not, the tick comes off until a new selfie matches the new photo. That takes another minute, and it is what keeps the tick meaning something.
