This is a template draft for review. It is not legal advice - have it reviewed and customized by qualified legal counsel before publishing.

This Privacy Policy explains how Find Travel Partner collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use our platform. We've written it to be as clear as we can — and we never sell your personal data.

1. Introduction

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy describes what we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. If you have questions, contact us using the details in Section 14.

Because trust is the foundation of our community, we try to collect only what we need to operate the Service safely — and to be transparent about the rest.

Find Travel Partner ("Find Travel Partner", "we", "us" or "our") operates a platform that helps verified travelers find trusted companions, plan trips and book travel. This policy applies to our website, mobile apps and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account & profile data — your name, email address, phone number, password, date of birth, gender, location, photos, bio, travel preferences, interests and the trips you create or join.
  • Verification data — information and documents you submit to verify your identity, such as a government-issued ID and a selfie or liveness check, processed through our verification partners (see Section 4).
  • Payment data — when you subscribe to Premium or use paid services, payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We receive limited billing details (such as the last digits and card type), but your full card number is handled by the provider and never stored on our servers.
  • Communications & content — messages you send to other members, posts and reactions on the community feed, feedback, reports, and any correspondence with our support team.

Information collected automatically

  • Device & technical data — IP address, device type, operating system, browser, app version and identifiers.
  • Usage data — pages and features you use, searches, matches, interactions and timestamps.
  • Cookies & similar technologies — as described in our Cookie Policy.

Information from third parties

  • Verification & KYC providers who confirm your identity and return a verification result.
  • Payment providers who confirm transactions.
  • Travel & booking partners where you choose to book hotels, flights, trains, cars, tours or eSIMs.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account and verified profile;
  • Provide smart matching and help you find and connect with travel partners;
  • Operate messaging, the community feed and the AI travel assistant and trip planner;
  • Process subscriptions, payments and any paid services;
  • Verify identities and maintain the safety and integrity of the community;
  • Respond to your requests, reports and support enquiries;
  • Send service messages and, where permitted, updates and marketing you can opt out of;
  • Detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and security issues;
  • Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.

4. Identity verification

Verification is central to the Service. To confirm members are genuine, we work with third-party identity-verification and KYC providers who process documents and biometric checks (such as a selfie or liveness check) on our behalf. These providers return a verification result and limited data to us; their processing is governed by their own privacy and security commitments.

Verification — including identity and email verification and the verified badge — is free for everyone. We use verification data to operate trust and safety features and we apply appropriate safeguards to protect it.

5. Legal bases for processing (GDPR/UK GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you sign up for;
  • Consent — for certain processing such as optional marketing and some cookies, which you can withdraw at any time;
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the platform safe, prevent fraud, and improve our Service, balanced against your rights;
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws.

6. How we share information

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

  • With other members — your profile, photos and the information you choose to share are visible to other travelers so they can decide whether to connect with you.
  • With service providers — hosting, verification/KYC, payment processing (Stripe), analytics, communications and customer support providers who process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.
  • With travel & booking partners — when you choose to book travel, the necessary details are shared with the relevant provider to complete your booking (see our Affiliate Disclosure).
  • For legal reasons — to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety and property of our members, the public or Find Travel Partner.
  • In a business transfer — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing.

7. Cookies & tracking

We and certain partners use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember your preferences, measure performance, and attribute bookings made through partner links. You can manage these as described in our Cookie Policy.

8. Data retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterwards only as long as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.

9. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You can update much of your information directly in your account settings, or contact us to make a request.

EEA/UK residents

You may exercise the rights above under the GDPR/UK GDPR, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California residents

Under the CCPA/CPRA, you may request to know, access or delete personal information we hold, and to correct it. We do not sell your personal information, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

10. International data transfers

We operate globally and may transfer, store and process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using the Service, you understand your information may be processed in these locations.

11. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

12. Security

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls and secure handling of verification and payment data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your data and to respond promptly to any incident.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
